PADI Open Water Diver course consists of the following learning phases:

1. Academics

2. Confined (Pool) Water Training

Academics - you will learn using online PADI tools. This is called eLearning. You study at your own pace and complete all tests and quizzes online. I will be available to assist you with your eLearning questions if needs to be. Before you proceed to confined water training phase, you will do a quick, in person, knowledge review test with me. We usually do it right before getting into pool. Easy stuff (if you have studied your eLearning material 🙂 )

Confined (Pool) Water Training - Consists of 5 dives where you will learn the scuba diving skills needed for your safe and enjoyable diving in Open Water. We do these pool dives over two days, usually on Friday and Saturday nights.

Open Water Dives - We are going to put together all the knowledge and skills you have learned during eLearning and pool training and do some actual open water dives while re-visiting some of the skills and learning some new ones. There are four open water dives in total and we do these usually over a weekend.

There are number of ways to engage and complete your PADI Open Water Diver course:

Complete entire course ($1,095.00 CAD HST included) - Completing entire course with Newhorizons.pro. I will be leading you from start to finish, which is the most rewarding and continuous way for you to learn! Completing your Open Water Diver course locally, under leadership of an instructor who dives local waters year round, will make you a better and more confident diver!

Referral ($699.00 CAD HST included) - Doing a referral means you will only do eLearning and Confined (Pool) Water training with Newhorizons.pro and the remaining Open Water dives will be done in warmer climates. I will be providing all the necessary documentation for the next dive shop to take over and complete your Open Water dives with you.

Open Water Dives ($587.00 CAD HST included) - Completing your Open Water Dives with Newhorizons.pro. Perhaps you have started your Open Water Diver course at another shop but never had a chance completing it due to say work related re-location; I will be happy and privileged to take you to the finish line!

Are you a certified diver who hasn't been in a water for a while or who wants to restart (or start) her/his local diving season under instructor's supervision? If the answer is 'Yes', then PADI Re-activate course is for you!

Sidemount diving is certainly the "new" way of diving. A diving specialty with ever increasing number of divers who fell in love with the agility and adaptability of sidemount configuration. Although origins of sidemount diving are rooted with cave diving, the benefits of this versatile diving configuration did not take long for general diving community to discover. So enter the Sidemount diving!

This course will teach you how to dive in recreational sidemount set up, meaning up to two tanks. If you are targeting technical sidemount diving, then this course is a fantastic baseline before you engage in technical aspects of sidemount diving, which means handling more than two tanks. This instructor actually insists and recommends starting with recreational sidemount diving first, especially when diving in cold water.

-Improve buoyancy control, kicking techniques and trim

-Extend bottom times (within recreational NDLs)

-Facilitate water entry/exit procedures

-Improve diving safety by introducing redundancy
